Precision and Feedback in Tight Spaces

I need to automate a small hidden compartment in a custom cabinet, but the clearance is less than 50mm. Do the micro actuators come with built-in limit switches to prevent damage to the cabinetry? Furthermore, is it possible to get position feedback from such a small device, or am I limited to basic extend/retract functionality due to the size?

For a tight space like a hidden compartment under 50 mm, precision actuators like the ones shown at https://www.progressiveautomations.com/en-eu/pages/micro-linear-actuators can be a great fit because of their compact footprint. Many of these micro actuators do include built-in limit switches that stop travel at the ends, which helps protect your cabinet from overextension or jamming. However, because of their small size, most only offer basic extend/retract functionality without advanced position feedback. If you need precise intermediate positioning, you might have to add external sensors (like optical or magnetic) or select a model with built-in feedback specifically designed for that use.
